Barefoot Land

A Contemporary Israeli Drama

Concept, Adaptation and Direction: Dorit Nitai Neeman

Inspired by a play by Pnina Gary

Amid preparations for the holiday ceremony at the kibbutz, between songs, laughter and memories, the complex reality of Israeli life breaks through.

The effort to preserve optimism and unity collides with the impact of war, with pain, fractures and questions that remain unanswered.

The play unfolds as a unique theatrical experience that breaks down the boundaries between stage and audience. Blending humor and songs,

it tells a story of the Israeli spirit and the struggle to keep moving forward, barefoot, in this land.

:Reviews

“Barefoot Land by Niko Nitai Theatre has a great deal of beauty. Despite its apparent modesty, it succeeds in engaging and delighting the audience in many of its elements.

The cast is talented, committed and finely tuned, with each character given their own charming moments that linger in the memory long afterward.

Barefoot Land at Niko Nitai Theatre is an enjoyable and rich theatrical experience, one that is well worth seeing.”

Noa Sadeh, Habama

“Dorit Nitai Ne'eman is not merely a director, but a curator of a bold and inquisitive fringe theatre culture. She breathes new, contemporary and unflinching life into the philosophical discourse on identity and the collective.

Fringe theatre at its finest holds up a mirror to society, even in times of crisis!”
